about

In the spring of 2009, I approached Eli Crews about performing a series of three live-streamed concerts at the recording studio NIR Studios. Internet radio had been around for several years but a livestream concert was a still a novelty in the DYI realm. Eli found a solution that enabled us to record and stream the mix over the internet to the sfSound internet station that Matt Ingalls curated. The station showcases experimental, improvised, electronic, contemporary composition, and other forms of new music heard in the SF Bay Area.

The second concert was with Kanoko Nishi on koto joining me playing saxophones and small stand-alone synthesizers. We were performing regularly as a duo and collaborating with dancers which influenced our approach to the improvisations. Her sound explorations on the koto were a perfect foil for my forays into combining the small synthesizers with saxophone.
